PREREQUISITE
Applicants of the Remedial Massage Therapy Program must have a Grade 12 or equivalent education. Applicants must also hold a valid FA/CPR ‘C’ certificate. A Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check from the applicant’s local Police detachment is also required.
Applicants of the Remedial Massage Therapy Program (PLAR (prior learning assessment and recognition) Process) must be currently employed as a health care professional with previous training (Degree or Diploma) in bony and muscular anatomy, physiology, pathology, and kinesiology (theory components to our regular program). Applicants must also hold a valid FA/CPR ‘C’ certificate. A Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check from the applicant’s local Police detachment is also required. An extensive interview will be required upon applying for the Accelerated Program to determine the applicant’s knowledge.

PROGRAM OVERVIEWS
The training provided by our College prepares students for employment in the massage field. Applicants have two avenues to obtain this training:
- Weekday (on campus – Wednesday class schedule) with off campus home-based study requirements to be completed.
- Weekend (on campus – seminars scheduled approximately 1 weekend every 4 weeks with off campus home-based study requirements to be completed between seminar dates)
Note: A minimumof 25 hrs a week is recommended.
Students enrolled in either the weekday delivery or the weekend delivery will be enrolled in classes including Pathology, Physiology, Anatomy, Exercise Physiology/ Kinesiology, Massage Theory and Practical Application/ Exercise Rehabilitation. A minimum of one – four hour clinical practicum shift per week is required as well.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY- Weekday Delivery Option
This is a two-year (18 month) program dedicated to the study of Massage for both Relaxation and Therapeutic purposes. Most of the first year is dedicated to establishing a foundation with relaxation as a focus. Year One is a prerequisite for Year Two. The second year builds upon the foundation established in year one with Assessment and Treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions. Students attend full time classes Tuesday to Thursday 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., as well weekly clinical practicum shifts. Beginning September and ending June of each year.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY – Weekend Delivery Option
We offer this 2-year (18 month) program through a weekend delivery. Students attend regular scheduled seminars and workshops which are supplemented by Western College theoretical material. Year One is a prerequisite for Year Two. The course is the study of massage as a form of treatment for Musculoskeletal dysfunctions. Students enrolled in the weekend delivery are required to attend regularly scheduled seminars approximately every four weeks, in addition to clinical practicum shifts weekly and a considerable amount of home bases study. Weekend Seminars commence September to June or January to August.
Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY – (PLAR Process) Weekend Delivery
Our PLAR process is designed for current health care professionals with previous training in bony and muscular anatomy, physiology, pathology, and kinesiology (the theory components to our program).
These students attend required classes during the weekend delivery seminars (see above) and possibly some additional seminars based on PLAR given.
The Massage Application and Practical Theory curriculum is the focus of this class time with assimilation of theoretical information from Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Kinesiology and Exercise Rehabilitation. .

PASSING REQUIREMENT
Theory/Written Evaluation
The College will require students to reach a passing mark of 70% in all classes to move from Year I to Year 2. The 70% average must be achieved to successfully complete the Remedial Massage Therapy Program.
COURSE PAYMENTS
This financial responsibility will become part of the student enrolment contract. A copy of the contract will be on file at the College, and the student will receive a duplicate.
The following is a typical fee plan.
Total payable as follows:
a) A non-refundable registration fee of One Hundred and Seventy-Five dollars ($175) to accompany the program application.
b) The balance is paid in full upon commencing the program or by prearranged payment plans.
c) All fees are payable by Jan 9th of the following calendar year for the fall enrolled students and by May 9th for the winter enrolled students. Interest fees are charged on all overdue fees.
**Instalment payments are made by E-transfer or post-dated cheques.
REFUND POLICY
The Private Vocational Schools Department of Education has a set refund policy in place.
