I graduated from WCRMT in 2005. As a new graduate with no roots, just big dreams of skiing, the mountains promised that lifestyle.I landed in Canmore Alberta and applied for jobs everywhere. After a few weeks of working part time at different clinics and spas, I started at the Banff Centre and quickly expanded hours to as much as they would allow. That role connected me to performing artists in Cirque de Soleil and many ballet companies nationwide. I was fortunate enough to have flexible contracts with those groups and turn that into a full time job working summers with dancers and winters with athletes in a Canmore clinic
My work with young athletes progressed as they developed into the national system and the many volunteer hours paid off, as they made World Cup teams, World Championship teams, and eventually Olympic teams, taking me with them as their therapist.
I have been extremely fortunate in my career as a massage therapist, it has provided me not only with a challenging and stimulating career, where I can feel valued as a person, but also a lifestyle that gives great balance and opportunity to support people in their time of need. I’ve worked in dozens of countries for dozens of organizations. I have done treatments in hospitals, clinics, barns, restaurants, bars. On planes, trains, and ships and everything in between. No two days of this career are the same, and that’s only part of what makes it so fun.
My roster includes many World Champions, Red Bull athletes, elite level artists and performers, NHL, and Olympic Champions, and as cool as it is to work with humans of that pedigree, it’s been arguably more rewarding to help grandparents pick up and play with their grand kids, or single parents manage the physical stress of their lives.
Massage continues to be an incredible career, and it continues to get better as I learn additional modalities and seek coaching from some of the best therapists in the world.

I started my education of Massage Therapy in 1994 and graduated in 1997, from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies.
Being a Martial Artist I have always had an interest in how the body could potentially move and why some people could move more efficiently and had less pain than others.
The College then gave me an opportunity to instruct the Part-Time Advanced Practical Application portion of the program (an amazing learning experience and further education for my own benefit as well)
In 1999 I decided to start working on a full – time Massage Therapy Practice and started treating in a Chiropractic Clinic in Saskatoon
In 2009 I moved my practice into my home and continue to practice here to this day
The career of Massage Therapy has only enhanced my lifestyle that I previously had and still have, running a Traditional Martial Arts School. For me making my own work schedule is very necessary and as a Massage Therapist it is very easy to do just that.
Why I chose Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies:
Osteopathic based assessment and treatment of body dysfunction and injury (learn to treat the cause of the pain and not just the symptoms) which your clients really appreciate
Diverse programs and financing that help you attain your goals to become a Massage Therapist
Educated Instructors that are practicing and/or have practiced Massage Therapy, so they have experience as Therapists themselves.

Thank you to the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies and all those who have provided the opportunities for me to enjoy a very Satisfying, Rewarding and Lucrative Career!

WCRMT Grad of 2012 (wow!). I have worked in spas, clinics, chains, and self employed. I have always enjoyed being an RMT regardless of the setting I was in. Since graduating, I have completed 2 other certificates as well as achieved my Bachelor of Science in a Pharmacy.
Having a career in Massage Therapy has allowed so much freedom, to make my own hours, choose where I work, and make an excellent wage while pursing other areas of study.
I continue to work as an RMT, I found it’s a good balance with my pharmacy career, and helps me treat my patients as a whole, considering all aspects of “health”. When I’m not working I enjoy being active at the gym, at the spin studio, and spending time with my family.
My advice to future grads:
First, CONGRATS!If you’re finishing your time at school knowing that you found what you love, embrace it. Continue to grow and learn, and advocate for your profession. If you’re graduating, uncertain if this is your calling, that’s okay! You have an excellent career to fall back on while you work on your next goal.
